Longer extra point doesn't worry Chandler Catanzaro

Arizona Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro doesn't seem to be fazed by the NFL moving the extra-point back to the 15-yard line instead of the 2.

Catanzaro told the Cardinals official website that he will embrace the challenge.

“What it comes down to is that kicking is kicking,” Catanzaro said. “It’s me, the ball and my target. That doesn’t change much. Nothing changes technique-wise. Rules are rules, and I am ready for the challenge.”

With the ball moved back to the 15-yard line, it essentially takes away the possibility of a fake. The rushers will be able to go after the kicker without hesitation. Again, it doesn't seem to concern Catanzaro.

“With the way I am hitting the ball, it shouldn’t be a factor,” he said. “The guys up front did a great job for me last year. My mindset doesn’t change at all.”

Many around the NFL believe kickers have become too accurate, which is why they are moving the extra-point back in hope that the kick is no longer a sure thing. Catanzaro disagrees with that assessment.

“You have to earn every kick,” Catanzaro said. “I don’t think any kick is a given. We make it look easy I guess, but you have to earn every kick.”
