Locked on Chiefs - Can KC secondary be Elite?

On Monday, Coach Reid updated the kingdom on a couple of injuries that occurred on Sunday.

Phillip Gaines tweaked his knee at the end of the game and was replaced by DJ White. White didn’t take any time to get into the game and promptly recorded his first career INT. Gaines will hopefully get a couple days to rest and be ready to go on Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Broken down Ford?

The other injury to note stemming from the game was Dee Ford. Andy stated that Ford hurt his hand during the game and that is why Tamba Hali and Frank Zombo saw extensive snaps. It also gave Dezman Moses a chance to get on the field and show what he can do. About the same time that White came in for Gaines, Dadi Nicolas started to get a couple of snaps. He wasn’t able to do much but it is a good sign to see him get regular season game opportunities.

The biggest question in everyone’s mind is still where is Jamaal Charles and will he be active this week. Coach Reid helped fan the flames this week stating that Charles could play this week but they will continue to see how he is doing. Reid admits they may be being overly cautious with Charles but they want him to be healthy. If I’m Kansas City Charles isn’t getting on the plane to Pittsburgh this weekend. While the outcome isn’t a forgone conclusion by any means, Charles should get another week off and come back after the bye if he is ready then.
