Kevin Hogan Scores Outstanding Rushing Touchdown (Video)

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Rookie Kevin Hogan scampered for a fantastic Cleveland Browns rushing touchdown, the first of his career.

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Cody Kessler looked pretty good before being ruled out for the game with a concussion. So a different rookie signal-caller, Kevin Hogan, was ready to try and make a name for himself.

It’s been another year of awful injury luck at the quarterback position for the Cleveland Browns, but they’ll hope to have stumbled upon something in Kevin Hogan. A highly flawed college quarterback who quickly flamed out as a Kansas City Chief, Hogan was scooped up by the Browns and promoted to the 53-man roster this month.

After the Browns decided they had enough of Charlie Whitehurst, Hogan became the No. 2 guy behind Kessler. After today’s injury to Kessler, Hogan received his first shot at playing under center in the NFL.

He wasted little time showing he can do some impressive things.

Hogan didn’t embarrassed himself as a passer with a 6-for-8 line to start, but where he truly showed his value is as a runner. After the touchdown, Hogan was the Browns leading rusher with 72 yards on five attempts, and his longest run was the amazing 28-yard scamper shown above.

Those are some nifty moves by Hogan, who looks like a great threat on the ground for the Browns offense. He and Isaiah Crowell have been bright spots for the Browns today, but the defense hasn’t given Hogan and Co. a chance to re-claim their lead.

The Cincinnati Bengals scored again to go up 28-17 on Cleveland as Jeremy Hill extended Cincinnati’s lead with a 74-yard touchdown run. Hill’s big run allows him to join a party on offense that has been dominated by Andy Dalton, as A.J. Green and Brandon LaFell have piled up yardage on the Browns secondary at will.
