Kenyan Drake Will Make Dolphins Debut Thursday Night

Kenyan Drake will play his first game in a Dolphins uniform Thursday Night against the Tennessee Titans. He has been sidelined up to this point due to a lingering hamstring injury.

Now in the culminating moments of preseason, Drake enters a tight running back competition. Isiah Pead, Arian Foster, and Jay Ajayi have all performed well enough to make the final roster.

Each has also made a case for playing time, performing well through the first three preseason games.

Kenyan Drake’s addition to the group will create a crowded backfield. As the team’s 3rd round draft pick, there is certainly no doubt he’ll make the roster.

His role, however, will definitely be in question, and it will be interesting to see how he fits in with the revamped backfield.

Isaiah Pead’s hamstring injury during the last game against the Falcons is an unfortunate setback, as he has been the team’s best back this preseason.

Pead’s performance has nonetheless deserved him a spot on the roster, though, his injury does give way for Drake to compete for playing time.

Drake has been hampered by his hamstring injury since he initially injured it just prior to his senior season at Alabama.

He’s stated that it isn’t 100% yet, though he is in dire need of an opportunity to show what he can do on the field before the regular season begins.

Gase has placed a high importance on Drake getting reps in before the season starts up. He envisions him being used as a backfield receiver to aid with the passing game.

The organization can only hope that he will not re-aggravate it during the course of the season because when he is 100%, he’s one of the fastest guys on the field.
