Coach Reid: Chiefs will split carries in Charles' absence

Jamaal Charles has accounted for nearly 40 percent of Kansas City's offense this season.

That's 92 offensive touches through five weeks that the Chiefs have to entrust elsewhere. With Charles out, they're certainly planning on spreading snaps around vs. the Vikings on Sunday.

"You know you're not going to replace Jamaal (lost to a torn ACL)," coach Andy Reid told reporters. "That's not how you go about it. You find out and (take advantage of) the strengths of those other players."

That's a smart play by Reid. No one player can step in and produce like Charles, but maybe multiple players can patch something comparable together.

Next man up? The running back Reid said resembles No. 25 the most, Charcandrick West. Veteran reserve Knile Davis could also factor in.

So could these other options; it'll take a village to replace a guy like Charles this season.
