Kansas City Chiefs are playoff-bound -- in historic fashion

The Kansas City Chiefs claimed a playoff spot in Week 16 -- and their own spot in NFL history.

They'll be only the second team in post-merger history to make the postseason after starting 1-5 or worse. The 1970 Cincinnati Bengals were the other.

K.C. beat the Cleveland Browns for their ninth straight victory, but still needed help to get there. The Pittsburgh Steelers provided it when they fell to the rival Baltimore Ravens.

That gifted a playoff berth to head coach Andy Reid's team. And it could ultimately seal up the AFC West title if the Broncos lose on Monday night.
