Watch the Hall of Fame speech Junior Seau's daughter would have made

Published Aug. 8, 2015 10:13 p.m. ET

On Saturday, the late Junior Seau was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame after a 20-year NFL career that included 12 Pro Bowl selections and six All-Pro picks.

When the linebacker's bust was unveiled on stage in Canton, Ohio, his three sons and daughter Sydney were on hand. Sydney was interviewed after the unveiling, but she was not permitted to give a speech due to the Hall of Fame’s rules against live speeches during posthumous inductions.

The New York Times on Saturday, however, published in both video and written form the speech she would have given. You can watch the video above or read it in its entirety below.

Seau, who was born in San Diego, was drafted with the No. 5 pick by the Chargers in 1990. He played 13 seasons with the team before spending three with the Miami Dolphins and four with the New England Patriots.
