Jared Goff Takes First Team Reps With Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday

With the Los Angeles Rams on a bye this weekend, Jared Goff took first team reps on Wednesday.

As the Los Angeles Rams enter the bye week on a three game losing streak, there’s been plenty of debate about whether the team should replace Case Keenum with Jared Goff at quarterback.

While the chances of the rookie starting in Week 9 may seem slim at this point, anything seems possible at this point, especially when Goff is taking reps with the first team.

The No. 1 overall pick from this year’s draft took first team reps on Wednesday, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Goff will be taking over as the starting quarterback any time soon. Even though Jeff Fisher continues to make the claim that Keenum is his guy at quarterback, it’s tough not to wonder how short the leash really is for the veteran at this point.

If anything, Goff practicing with the first team on Wednesday may be the type of pressure Keenum needs to finally become more consistent on offense. For a quarterback that went from four total touchdowns (three in the air, one on the ground) in Week 6 against the Detroit Lions to throwing four interceptions during last Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, it’s easy to see why the frustration is piling up over Keenum.

Fisher realizes these next couple of weeks will determine his future with the team, and the last thing he wants to do is throw the inexperienced Goff in with the team sitting at 3-4. With that being said, having Goff practice with the first team shows he’s at least considering the option in case the head coach becomes desperate enough to bench Keenum.
