Report: Jags owner Shad Khan speaks out to team after latest loss

Published Oct. 26, 2016 3:18 p.m. ET

Shad Khan addressed the Jacksonville Jaguars following Sunday's loss, the Associated Press reports, marking the second time the usually silent owner has spoken to the team in less than a month.

Khan reportedly met with players and coaches Monday to seek answers for what's gone wrong this season and how they can fix it. The Jags sit at 2-4 following Sunday's 33-16 loss to the Raiders, in which two players were ejected, and they face the Titans on Thursday night.

Khan also gave the Jags a pep talk before their game in London earlier this month, and the team responded with a win.

Coach Gus Bradley is just 14-40 in three-plus seasons, the second worst winning percentage for any coach in NFL history with at least 50 games. Only Bert Bell (Philadelphia, Pittsburgh) fared worse, and he also was the owner.

Khan said before the season that a winning season is "everybody's reasonable expectation at this point." The Jags would have to go 7-3 in their last 10 games, and they play four of the next five on the road.

Khan has spent millions, working with the city to install the world's largest scoreboards, revamp club seating and break ground on an indoor practice facility that will connect to an amphitheater. He's spent even more to upgrade the roster, including a defensive overhaul the past two seasons that had paid small dividends.

The Jags have not had more than five wins in a season since Khan bought the team in 2012. They haven't had a winning season or playoff appearance since 2007.

"At every position, we have to be better," QB Blake Bortles said after Sunday's loss.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
