Jaguars fan tries to cancel Texans fans' flight to Jacksonville, fails in end

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 7:34 p.m. ET

The Houston Texans took on the Jaguars in Jacksonville last Sunday. Two Texans fans almost didn't make it to the game, though, because of a Grinch-like Jags fan.

A Texans fan named Carlos Lara surprised his girlfriend with a trip to see her favorite team in action in Jacksonville. He was so excited about the trip that he posted a picture of their boarding passes on a Facebook page called Traveling Texans. Cue the jerk Jags fan.

A Jags fan prankster with the handle "Duval Undertaker" used the confirmation number posted online to cancel the tickets, then bragged about it on Twitter. Eventually the airline re-issued the tickets, and the couple was none the wiser.

"We had no idea what was going on, on social media or anything," Laras' girlfriend, Alice Rodriguez, said, via ABC8 in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The story exploded online while Lara and Rodriguez were en route to Florida, and when they touched down, they both had an explosion of Facebook messages and texts of apologies -- and even an invite to the rival Jaguars tailgate.

The memorable weekend ended on a high note when the pair was surprised with sideline passes to the game, which the Texans won 27-13.

Joke's on you, Duval Undertaker.
