Colts' T.Y. Hilton on new contract: 'No place I'd rather be'

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay said last month the team was hopeful it would be able to reach new deals with wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and left tackle Anthony Castonzo before Labor Day.

One down, one to go.

The Colts and Hilton agreed to a five-year, $65 million extension on Thursday with $39 million in guaranteed money. The new deal ensures Hilton will remain in Indianapolis through at least the 2020 season.

"They showed interest that they wanted me. I also wanted to be here. No place I’d rather be," Hilton said, via the Indianapolis Star. "This organization is great. I love being here."

Hilton's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said he approached the team about getting a new deal done for the Pro Bowl receiver at the NFL Scouting Combine, but things looked bleak initially.

"This was a priority for both sides. But for a time, it looked like he was going to play his contract out," Rosenhaus said. "And that would have been unfortunate because he has something special here. They drafted him and it’s rare to draft a guy and keep him. Andrew Luck is one of the great players in the game. He and T.Y. have a special combination."

Hilton, who was taken in the third round of the 2012 draft, caught 82 passes for 1,345 yards and seven touchdowns last season. The 25-year-old said he's ready for the expectations that come along with having a huge contract.

"There’s pressure every day," Hilton said. "You wake up and try to live. At the end of the day there’s no pressure. I fear one man and that’s God. When I’m out there I’m just me and I’m having fun with my teammates.

"God blessed me with the talent I use everyday. I’m going to go out there to continue getting better every day and try to be the best I can be."
