Colts owner Jim Irsay donates $50K to help a legendary NFL journalist
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has been known to donate his wealth in the past. He pledged $1 million to United Way back in 2014 and donated $10,000 for former Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still's daughter, who was battling cancer. He's never shied away from helping those in need, and this is no different.
Irsay announced via Twitter on Friday that he is donating $50,000 to the Dr. Z fund. Paul Zimmerman, a legendary football writer, is in an assisted-living facility in New Jersey and his health is ailing. Zimmerman is no longer able to speak or read after three strokes left him unable to do so.

In order to cover the cost of Zimmerman's medical care, a GoFundMe page has been set up in his name, raising money to help him remain in the facility that is prolonging his life. Irsay's donation puts the cause well above its $75,000 goal, and is by far the largest contribution of any.
The Raiders Media Relations group also donated $5,000 to the fund.
