Houston Texans Morning Huddle--Miller Finished

Happy Hump Day! Here are your daily Houston Texans stories for Wednesday:

Braxton Miller to IR by Sarah Barshop, ESPN

The Texans have put wide receiver Braxton Miller on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Miller injured his right shoulder in Houston’s Week 13 loss to the Green Bay Packers while attempting to catch a pass from quarterback Brock Osweiler. He had his arm in a sling in the locker room after the game and did not play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

This has been a tough break for the rookie receiver. He made the transition from quarterback, playing one year of receiver at Ohio State before being selected in the third round. In the preseason he looked like he would be a crucial piece of the passing game. But that never materialized due to injuries and his rookie season was less than memorable. Hoping next year is better for him.

Texans Promote Williams by Aaron Wilson, Houston Chronicle

Williams spent training camp and the offseason with the Texans and tried out for multiple NFL teams since being released, including the Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots and Chicago Bears.

Williams starred in track in college, meaning speed is not an issue–but how will the Texans use him? Brock Osweiler doesn’t have a great deep arm, but there are ways to use Williams’ All-American speed.

LT Likes Houston’s Chances by Patrick Starr, State of the Texans

The contrast of those divisional records could prove the difference and the situation has caught the eye of Tomlinson.
“Now, the division is not great. The problem with Tennessee is they just won their first game in their own division; they haven’t learned how to win in their division yet,” said Tomlinson of the Titans.”They’re still learning how to win and to me, they win games one way—they have to run the ball in order to win.”

Great to have a vote of confidence from such an established great like Tomlinson. But now the Texans have to go out and prove it.
