Green Bay Packers QB Matt Blanchard not hesitant to help rookie Brett Hundley

Green Bay Packers quarterback Matt Blanchard is buried on the depth chart, but that hasn't stopped him from being a good teammate to the rookie on the roster. Even though it could cost him a roster spot, Blanchard believes helping 2015 fifth-round selection Brett Hundley is the right thing to do, according to Ryan Wood of Press-Gazette Media.

"You've got to act on the things you believe," Blanchard told Press-Gazette Media, "and I believe that helping the other guys out is going to be more important than me turning the cold shoulder or being standoffish. For me, it doesn't give me much of an edge. For me, if I'm helping somebody else out, if I'm helping Brett out, then that makes me better as a teacher, helping him out.

"It's kind of a paying-it-forward-type thing. He's a good kid. He's curious. Just trying to help him as much as I can. It's a great competition."

Blanchard, 26, isn't a bad passer, but he can't offer Hundley much in terms of NFL playing experience. The Wisconsin-Whitewater product has not played a single game since breaking into the league as an undrafted rookie in 2012. His professional quarterbacking experience is limited to practice-squad reps with the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers.
