Green Bay Packers News: Covering Julio Jones

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Packers know all about Julio Jones’ ability, but it could be LaDarius Gunter’s job to stop him. That and more in the Titletown Report.

Gunter won’t be alone, of course. The safeties are going to play a key role on defense for Green Bay, given Dom Capers could once again be without his top three cornerbacks.

Let’s dive right into the Titletown Report for Wednesday. As you sip your coffee this morning, enjoy these articles from around the internet.

You don’t need to remind Dom Capers or Mike McCarthy about how dangerous Matt Ryan and Julio Jones can be. The two dominated at Lambeau Field in 2014 in what was a narrow Packers victory in a high-scoring game. Without Sam Shields and Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins’ status unknown, Jones is poised for another huge game.

Packers TE Jared Cook on if he’s ready to return to practice: ‘I wish’ — Rob Demovsky of ESPN

The Packers need all of the weapons on offense they can get, but Jared Cook remains out of action. Only the Browns give up more receiving yards to tight ends than Atlanta, so this would have been an ideal situation for Cook to return to.

Knile Davis, Packers could be perfect fit — Ryan Wood of Packersnews.com

Knile Davis was limited last week against Chicago, which is hardly surprising given he’d been traded all of 48 hours earlier. Now with an extra 10 days to prepare, expect a bigger role for Davis in Atlanta.

Green and Bold: LaDarius Gunter vs. Julio Jones — Michelle Bruton of Cheesehead TV

With Shields and Randall out, and Rollins perhaps soon to follow, LaDarius Gunter might see a lot of Julio Jones. That doesn’t sound fun, but what can Gunter bring to the table in this matchup? Michelle Bruton provides some excellent analysis as ever.
