Giants WR Washington may train with Beckham Jr. before camp

When the New York Giants wrap up this coming week's mandatory minicamp, there will be a big lull before training camp, when the team gets together to practice again. After showing improvement in every aspect of his game, including special teams, second year wide receiver Corey Washington will be looking to build on his success in every way possible.

One way Washington can improve is by learning from his fellow second year wide receiver and the 2014 Rookie of the Year, Odell Beckham Jr. Washington may use the time before camp to privately train with Beckham.

“It was fun watching him play,’’ Washington said of Beckham, per The New York Post. “He was a first-round pick, the 12th pick, for a reason. He’s good.

“He comes in and out of his break real good,’’ Washington said. “I’m learning from him, probably go train with him this summer. I don’t know yet. He’s real good at coming out of his break and getting separation.’’

Washington has made noise throughout OTA practices after making similar noise throughout the 2014 training camp and preseason. He wins by utilizing his big. 6-foot-4 frame, to go up and make contested catches. He showcased these skills in the red zone during the preseason last year and through OTAs this year. He has been worked in as a primary receiver in red zone drills with Beckham and Victor Cruz out during OTAs. After showing the neccessary improvement on special teams this offseason, he will be one of the most interesting young players to track through training camp.
