Fred Davis is the latest player cut by the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots continue to slim down their roster at the tight end position. After cutting Tim Wright a couple weeks ago, the Patriots cut Fred Davis before the weekend.

Davis was reinstated into the league after missing the entire 2014 season due to a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. 10 days later, Davis found himself on the Patriots roster on a one year deal.

After cutting Wright and Davis, the Patriots now have Rob Gronkowski, Scott Chandler, Michael Hoomanwanui, A.J. Derby, Jimmy Mundine and Jake Bequette left on the roster at the tight end position.
