Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 7: RB Matt Forte
Heading into Week 7 Fantasy Football, it’s best owners stay away from anything wearing the uniform of the New York Jets. Especially running back Matt Forte.
Make no mistake about it, the New York Jets are terrible in every aspect imaginable. When it comes to their offense, they can’t score touchdowns, convert simple third conversions, and forget about establishing the run. Fantasy football owners shouldn’t expect much of anything from any offensive players they own of the Jets.
Running back Matt Forte lit up the fantasy football scene with his dominating Week 2 performance against the Buffalo Bills. He rushed for three touchdowns and 100 yards in that matchup but since then, hasn’t been anywhere near being effective.
Forte is currently in a slump, as is the entire roster of the Jets. Currently riding a four-game losing streak, Forte is preparing for a Week 7 matchup against the stout defense of the Baltimore Ravens. The truth of the matter is, Forte isn’t worth starting at all in fantasy lineups this week.
Last week against the Arizona Cardinals, Forte had season-low numbers. Forte totaled 19 rushing yards, nine attempts, and zero touchdowns. It would make sense for the Jets to try and establish the run against the Ravens but with both him and running back Bilal Powell struggling heavily this season, don’t expect it to happen.
More from The Jet Press
Fantasy owners should sit Forte this week and try to acquire another option via waiver wire or heck, start any other running back on your bench.
Perhaps this was the reason why the Chicago Bears didn’t bother re-signing him since he’s a bit injury-prone and well, has fizzled out at the halfway mark of the season.
Despite a change at quarterback for the Jets with now Geno Smith under center, the chances the Jets have at beating the Ravens on Sunday are close to none.
It’s best to stay away from Forte and perhaps even drop him completely from fantasy lineups. He’s just not getting the job done on a team that continues to be unprepared, undisciplined, and simply inefficient in the most basic of fundamentals of playing football.
Overall, sit Forte and focus on acquiring any other running back. He’s not worth a starting spot and is getting closer to not even be worthy of a bench spot.
