Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 12: TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Heading into Week 12 Fantasy Football action, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins should be without a shadow of a doubt removed from your team entirely.

Make no mistake about it, the fantasy football value of tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins is so bad, it’s surprising he’s even still enlisted as an option to acquire. The New York Jets had hoped when they acquired him that he would develop into a premier tight end but he’s turned into a complete dud.

So far with the Jets, he’s totaled just two receptions for 17 yards and zero touchdowns. Due to how the Jets offense has been run ever since offensive coordinator Chan Gailey came to town, they don’t utilize their tight ends at all as receiving options.

Gailey prefers his tight ends to primarily block to help establish the run and also protect the quarterback, which doesn’t bode well at all for Jenkins. Considering he’s also been dealing with an ankle injury as of late, means his fantasy football value leaves much to the imagination.

Fantasy football owners shouldn’t waste their time with Jenkins as this week, the Jets invite the New England Patriots to MetLife Stadium for what could turn into a nightmare of a game. It has such a potential to be a disaster for the Jets that the NFL removed the game from primetime into the late Sunday afternoon slot.

More from The Jet Press

Don’t expect Jenkins to turn into a star tight end overnight since he’s not lived up to any of the hype generated when the Jets first brought him into the mix. It’s best to not start him this week and heck, drop him from your fantasy team altogether.

Overall, find another tight end, any other one for that matter than dare consider starting Jenkins this week. He hasn’t done much and will go down as a terrible acquisition by the Jets at the end of the regular season.
