Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 10: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Heading into Week 10 Fantasy Football, owners should completely sit quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick against the Los Angeles Rams.

When it comes to the New York Jets and their situation at quarterback, it continues to be perplexing. The Jets still plan to continue throwing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick out on the gridiron despite his terrible play at the position. In addition to not being able to be an effective starter, he’s also dealing with an MCL knee injury. Should fantasy football owners consider starting Fitzpatrick with hopes of turning his season around for the better?

Long story short, no. Fitzpatrick is on his way out, not only as a starter but as a member of the Jets. There is no question that his performance all season long has left much to the imagination as he leads the NFL in interceptions at 13.

Even though he will be facing the struggling Los Angeles Rams at home in Week 10, fantasy football owners should not take the risk. Not only should Fitzpatrick sit this week from your lineups, but it might be time to take a hard look at quarterback Bryce Petty.

It’s only a matter of time before the youngster gets his opportunity to rightfully be the starting quarterback of the Jets at some point this season. Considering that Fitzpatrick’s game status as of now is listed as questionable could also mean Petty might very well start on Sunday.

On all accounts, stay away from Fitzpatrick this week and well, for the rest of the season. He’s inconsistent and at the end of the day, isn’t worth the risk at this point of the fantasy season. His “Fitzmagic” is long gone as a tough schedule against real opponents has exposed him for what he really is.

Fantasy football owners are advised to find any other quarterback via the waiver wire as they’ll more than likely put up better numbers this week. Fitzpatrick might not even start this Sunday, which would put owners at a huge risk. Even head coach Todd Bowles said earlier this week that Fitzpatrick will be a game-time decision.

Overall, don’t start Fitzpatrick this week in your lineups. You will only experience heartbreak and anger if you keep him in as he won’t amount for much. Sit him and go in a different direction with the most important position on your fantasy team.
