Football has had a long history with armed forces. Here’s to the ones who sacrifice so much.

Kettani will return to the USS Klakring frigate in Jacksonville, Fla., on Friday morning, NESN.com reported.

"I love my country, and I'm happy to serve it," Kettani said.

Kettani, who already has served two years of active duty, was given select reserve status in time to report for training camp in July, under the condition that he helped promote the Navy.

Despite his willingness to serve, he has launched an appeal to stay with the team.

"I look forward to continuing my dream of playing for the New England Patriots," Kettani said.
