Quarterback Carson Wentz discussed met with the Philadelphia media one more time prior to Sunday’s game.

Every press conference with the Philadelphia Eagles goes just about  the same way the last one did at this juncture of the season. Injuries are discussed (typically the same guys over and over). Questions are asked by guys in the media about what they saw last week, and they’re told why those things happened. With the 2016 season coming to an end, fans and members of the Philadelphia media are all paying attention to all of that. There’s something else becoming increasingly more interesting, the Carson Wentz press conference.

The rookie has been analyzed just about as much as any human being can be analyzed. Still, he’s actually been one of the bright spots this year. In a world where quarterbacks get the credit and blame for everything, Wentz has held it together. Philadelphia’s found their quarterback of the future. Now, they just need to figure out who the guys will be around him.

Let’s be clear. Wentz isn’t even one of the 20 biggest problems with this team (questions about mechanics aside). He is human though, and the majority of us truly have had to ask how much one man can take. We’ve heard about the pressure of being a top pick in the NFL Draft, and we know that he’s never lost so much in his football life. For that reason, a Carson Wentz press conference can sometimes double as a psychiatric evaluation. He’s passed each one, and that’s a good thing. This past week was no exception.

The rules are simple for Wentz. Stay calm, take care of the football, continue to learn and get out of the 2016 season healthy. We’ve been told about his ability to bounce back and how quickly he forgets mistakes. That will serve him well in the future. It’s definitely a plus going into Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins. Philadelphia will be looking to end a four-game losing streak to their foes from the nation’s capital.
