Eagles, 49ers reportedly discussing a trade for wideout Torrey Smith

The Philadelphia Eagles apparently are looking to bolster their receiving corps. The Eagles are discussing a trade with the 49ers involving wideout Torrey Smith, Pro Football Talk reported Monday.

Smith has seen his production dwindle since he signed a five-year, $40 million deal with San Francisco in 2015. He recorded career lows in catches (33) and receiving yards (663) last season thanks in part to the Niners’ uncertain quarterback situation.

Smith spent his first four years in the NFL with the Ravens and had a career-high 11 touchdowns in his final season in Baltimore in 2014.

A deal for Smith, 27, could give the Eagles, who are a game behind the Cowboys for the NFC East lead, a threat at wideout and rookie Carson Wentz another option to throw to. The trade deadline is Nov. 1.
