Dez Bryant will undergo MRI on injured knee
Dez Bryant will have an MRI due to his knee injury against the Chicago Bears.
The Dallas Cowboys had a bit of a scare during their impressive Sunday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears. During the first quarter, wide receiver Dez Bryant limped to the sideline after his knee bent awkwardly. The good news is Bryant was able to come back in and play the rest of the game. However, the bad news is he has an MRI on Monday.
“We feel OK,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, via ESPN.com. “We’re going to do some other things, too. But right here, yes. Right now, we’re fine. We’ll give it another look-see with the MRI.”
It is a bit surprising that Bryant came back into the game. Looking at the hit, his knee bent in a way a knee should never bend. While it is encouraging he was able to finish the game and play the most snaps of any Cowboys receiver, that doesn’t mean no damage was done. In fact, he might’ve made things worse by coming back and lacing them up.
It goes without saying that Bryant is very critical to the Cowboys this season. With a rookie quarterback, Bryant consistently draws attention and helps other players get open. He also allows the Cowboys running game to be better because of the threat of the pass. Bryant only has 150 receiving yards through his first three games, but while his numbers might not be showing it, Bryant is arguably the most important player on the Cowboys. Expect his numbers to get better as Dak Prescott continues to develop as a passer.

Cowboys fans have to be a bit worried about Bryant after his foot injury last season. He missed seven games last season and only had 401 receiving yards in nine games. If he’s not effective, the Cowboys have a microscopic at best chance of making the postseason.
