Detroit Lions OT LaAdrian Waddle claims to be ahead of schedule in ACL rehab

Detroit Lions offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle, who tore his ACL in Week 15 last year, told Kyle Meinke of MLive.com that he's ahead of schedule in his rehab and hasn't ruled out a return for the 2015 season opener.

"I think there's a chance," Waddle said about playing in Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers on Sept. 13, per MLive.com "It just kind of depends on how the rest of the rehab goes. Just going in, working hard every day and trying to get better."

Waddle says his knee is "feeling real good," according to MLive.com, but hasn't been able to participate in Lions OTA workouts. He is only five months removed the injury, so the recovery still has a way to go.

The Lions have a backup options. If Waddle isn't ready to play when the regular season rolls around, Detroit will have Cornelius Lucas ready to stand in his stead.
