Vernon Davis is wearing Julius Thomas' old Broncos number

If Vernon Davis can play like his numerical predecessor, the Broncos just got a steal.

That's because Davis is sporting No. 80 -- previously worn by All-Pro Bronco Julius Thomas:

Thomas moved on to Jacksonville last offseason. When the Broncos swapped picks for Davis, his old number was up for grabs.

But what about Davis' old No. 85? It's currently taken by fellow tight end Virgil Green -- but that might change if Davis is willing to pay up.
