Dallas Cowboys: Dez Bryant recruiting Revis could motivate young players
The Dallas Cowboys are better off without cornerback Darrelle Revis, but the tweet receiver Dez Bryant sent about wanting him still can be a good thing
Not too long ago Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was sending out a tweet asking former New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis cornerback to come to North Texas.
Bryant told the veteran corner that he would "love" what Dallas is doing and he was "waiting" for a response.
@Revis24 Dallas? ….I promise you are going to love what we got going on around here..your attitude fits our culture…waiting…..

There's been no official response from Revis and the team apparently has no interest in adding him to their suddenly full cornerback depth chart. After letting starters Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne walk in free agency they drafted Chidobe Awuzie with their second round pick, Jourdan Lewis with their third and Marquez White in the sixth. They also added former divisional rival Nolan Carroll in free agency.

Despite all that, the tweet from Bryant may not be all bad. The corner position is one which requires a lot of pride, and not much makes players step up like competition. For the Cowboys corners, they already have great competition in going up against Bryant — and he says they've been doing well in that regard, via DallasCowboys.com:
"Those guys, they've been competing strong," Bryant said. "That's what I love about them, win, lose or draw. Not just me, but the rest of these guys in this locker room, they'll tell you we'll take that. Before it's all said and done, y'all are going to know those guys' names in this league."
If going up against a Pro Bowl player like Dez wasn't enough, he also put the shadow of a player like Revis over their heads as well. Now these players have that much more reason to perfect their craft.
Dallas is a media hotspot and adding a name like Revis to the mix won't fade away — even if he signs elsewhere. Look for the overly-confident Awuzie, Lewis, Carroll and returning veteran Orlando Scandrick to prove that what they provide is better than what Revis can at this point in his career.
If they do, Bryant's tweet could be a part of the reason as he added helped ignite a fire underneath them. If they don't. expect some backlash for the team ignoring the tweet sent from one big name NFL player to another.
