The man who protects Andrew Luck's blindside may soon be receiving some security of his own.

Indianapolis Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo said Monday he and the team are working towards a contract extension. The 26-year-old Castonzo is currently in the last year of his rookie deal.

"If you play well, you get taken care of, that's sort of the way I see it," Castonzo said, via Zak Keefer of the Indianapolis Star.

And make no mistake, the fifth-year pro has played well. Last season, Castonzo was on the field for an NFL-high 1,400 snaps and allowed just two sacks.

Castonzo, the Colts' first-round pick in 2011 set to earn $7.4 million this year, a number that figures to rise if he and the team agree on an extension before the start of the regular season. Even if he doesn't sign a new deal in the next few weeks, Castonzo said he's confident his future lies in Indianapolis.

"We've got a great team," Castonzo said.
