Colts Have Two '8-0' Records Working in Favor to Take Down Titans Sunday

The Indianapolis Colts will have two 8-0 records working in their favor against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

First, starting quarterback Andrew Luck has yet to lose to the Titans in his career with an 8-0 record.

Second, the Titans have never beaten the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium since the venue opened in 2008.

While stopping Titans running back DeMarco Murray and slowing down quarterback Marcus Mariota will also certainly help matters–in what’s been a sizzling Tennessee offense as of late, the Colts should have recent history working in their favor as well.

Both 8-0 records are pretty impressive to say the least.

For one, the Colts have been in some heated divisional games versus the Titans with Luck under center, having 6 of those 8 Luck victories being decided by one score or less–included is a trip to Tennessee last season where the Colts trailed by 13 points entering the 4th quarter and shockingly won.

Second, while Indianapolis has had the great fortune of having both Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck under center for a large portion of 2008-2015, the fact that the Titans couldn’t beat the Colts in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium during 2011 and 2015 speaks dividends.

Recall that in 2011, the 1-13 Dan Orlovsky led Colts beat then-Matt Hasselbeck‘s 7-7 Titans, 27-13 at Lucas Oil Stadium in the wake of Manning’s season-ending neck injury.

Likewise last season, in the aftermath of Luck’s suffered season-ending lacerated kidney, the Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley led Colts surprisingly beat the Titans 30-24 at Lucas Oil Stadium in the team’s season finale–in a victory that very well may have saved head coach Chuck Pagano‘s job.

As such, both 8-0 records are among the NFL’s more impressive currently active streaks and hopefully, the Colts can only add to each win column respectively after Sunday’s game.
