Acho to play OLB in base defense; Young, Houston to rotate in sub

The Chicago Bears have cleared up their defensive personnel and the way they intend to use it moving forward.

After trading Jared Allen to the Carolina Panthers, the Bears plan to start Sam Acho in his place. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said fellow outside linebackers Willie Young and Lamarr Houston will be in the rotation when the Bears employ a sub package, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.

Acho has the most experience starting in a 3-4 defense, dating back to his days with the Arizona Cardinals. Young and Houston are still making the difficult transition from 4-3 defensive end.

The Bears will benefit from Acho's experience, but Young in particular must get his fair share of the defensive snaps. He is still looking for his first sack of the season after leading the team last year with 10. Chicago's coaching staff must find a way to unleash him.
