Check out the San Diego Chargers' color rush uniforms

OK, it’s been a somber time for fans lead of the San Diego Chargers, still in disbelief that the team managed to lose a 21-3 on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs. Let’s talk about something a little more exciting.

All 32 NFL teams unveiled the uniforms they will wear as part of the league’s Color Rush initiative, which began last year. Here’s a look at what the Chargers will wear.

How cool are those?

Dan Fouts and Kellen Winslow should be quite proud as these jerseys are a bit of a throwback to their era. The Chargers will wear these on October 13 when they host the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.

Week 1 was a huge disappointment for fans in San Diego, but this is something that should bring a smile, right? It’s a throwback to the teams coached by Don Coryell, those that were some of the most flashy, exciting teams in NFL history.

The royal blue color will pay tribute to that era. Having the Broncos come in for a classic AFC West division matchup should make for a perfect October night. Here’s what Alex Spanos had to say in regards to the color choice.

“We met with Nike and went through several options. Wearing the royal blue was an idea that we got really excited about. It’s a color from our past that is synonymous with an era we all feel fondly about. It will be the first time in 30 years we will wear royal blue in a game, and it is something we think the fans will enjoy seeing again.”

The NFL presented a few “Color Rush” games last season, featuring teams wearing bright, contrasting colors that left some viewers changing the settings on their television screens. Apparently, the league liked the idea so much that they’ve brought it back.
