Chargers WR Inman playing with increased confidence this season

With a playoff berth still on the line against the 49ers, Philip Rivers threw to a player he hadn't thrown to all year.

Dontrelle Inman made that crucial fourth-down catch, made a few defenders miss, and made it possible to enter the 2015 as the Chargers' most confident young receiver.

“I feel the same as I did last year, but it’s all about confidence,” Inman told the team's official website. “When you have the confidence that you can do something or be somewhere, you are going to have that feeling no matter what it is.  You will be confident no matter what the challenge is to come.  So I am confident in what I can do as a player, and I’m confident in what I can do as a teammate.”

So confident, in fact, that the second-year Bolt used the word 'confidence' 15 times in a fifteen minute locker room interview session.

Inman should be self-assured this season, though. Over the final six quarters of last season, he averaged 13.2 yards per catch.

More importantly, he proved he could make plays for the player responsible for getting the ball in his hands.

“Once you gain the confidence of your quarterback, your game elevates 10 times," Inman said of his relationship with Philip Rivers. "A receiver is nothing without his quarterback. I don’t care how good you are, you’ve seen many great receivers not make it in this league just because they didn’t have a good quarterback.”

Inman does have one throwing him passes in San Diego. And from the sound of it, he's very confident more of those throws will be coming his way in 2015.
