Warmack remains unsigned by Titans

Published Jul. 28, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

The Tennessee Titans have wrapped up their first five days of training camp with no sign of a deal yet with top draft selection Chance Warmack, and coach Mike Munchak's patience is starting to wear a bit thinner.

Warmack has missed four practices. The Titans are taking Monday off, so there's still time for an agreement that could have the No. 10 draft pick out of Alabama on the field by Tuesday night. With the ninth pick overall Dee Milliner of the New York Jets agreeing to a deal Sunday night, Warmack was the lone first-round draft selection still not under contract.

Munchak said general manager Ruston Webster told him they haven't come to an agreement yet.

''It doesn't seem very complicated to me,'' Munchak said. ''Business is business, and they can't agree.''

The Titans have been rotating Fernando Velasco and Rob Turner at right guard with Warmack out. Warmack practiced with the first-team offense during the team's offseason program, but right tackle David Stewart was limited to only individual drills recovering from a broken right leg. Stewart is back now but can't start working on his spacing and communication with Warmack until the rookie gets into camp.

Munchak said the missed time definitely hurts Warmack because they've gotten so much work done already. Coaches can catch Warmack up, though nothing can compensate for the missed experience.

''Even though he's been through it one time, there's nothing like this kind of competition,'' Munchak said. ''There's stuff that went on today that the offensive line faced versus the defense. That's something that's hard to make up. I mean, we know he'll be here at some point and we'll just have to wait until that comes. He's good enough to play and help us right away, it just sets everything back.

The Titans had their first fully padded practice Sunday night with approximately 1,500 fans on hand, and Jake Locker had his best session yet. He had his best moment with a pass to Kendall Wright who made a diving catch on the left sideline before coming back with a long toss to Nate Washington down the right.

Rookie receiver Justin Hunter also got a taste of the ''Oklahoma'' drill early going up against a fellow rookie in cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson, who easily got the better of Hunter.

''A lot of those guys have never been in that type of drill before, so I don't think he knew quite what the heck was going on,'' Munchak said. ''I think he was still in shock we called him up there.''

Notes: Rookie offensive lineman Brian Schwenke (left hamstring) was given the night off. He is expected back possibly by Tuesday. Munchak also gave receivers Kenny Britt and Marc Mariani, kicker Rob Bironas and defensive end Ropati Pitoitua the night off. ... Backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick also got into the physical practice with a strong block freeing Darius Reynaud for a touchdown run in a drill.
