Carson Palmer says he 'needs more action' in OTAs

Published May. 20, 2015 12:47 p.m. ET

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is just six months removed from a torn ACL. So it makes sense head coach Bruce Arians is taking it slow with his starting quarterback.

Palmer is getting some work in, but not as much as he would like.

"I've been politicking with the trainers and the physical trainers because 12 plays just isn't enough for me and I need more action out there," Palmer said, via ESPN.com.

Don't expect Arians to change his mind anytime soon about how much he is using Palmer in drills. He thinks Palmer is getting plenty of reps and will be well prepared by the time the season starts.

"I'm not afraid if he doesn't get out here as long as he's throwing 7-on-7," Arians said. "I know he can hand it off. He does all the bootleg drills in warm ups so the rest of it he can handle. The 7-on-7, we blitz enough in that and we give him enough looks so he's getting prepared."
