Bills' LeSean McCoy limited Thursday, Ryan hopes he can play Sunday

Buffalo Bills running back has been dealing with an ailing hamstring injury for about a month as it has yet to fully recover. He played in the season opener but didn't have a great game.

Leading up to the Bills' Week 2 matchup with the New England Patriots, McCoy's hamstring has put his status in doubt. McCoy was limited in practice on Thursday due to his hammy being "a little tight and a little sore."

When asked if McCoy will be on the field against the Patriots, Rex Ryan said he "certainly hopes" so, but didn't sound overly confident.

"I don't even want to think that way, but yeah, it would be definitely [next man up]," Ryan said via Mike Rodak of ESPN. "But like I said, I'm not giving up on McCoy playing."

McCoy carried the ball 17 times on Sunday and also had three receptions, so his health didn't seem to hamper his production. While he only averaged 2.4 yards per carry, McCoy did have 20 touches in the game.

Rookie Karlos Williams and Boobie Dixon will carry the ball if McCoy is unable to go against the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday.
