Broncos' Defense Will Need To Step Up Down the Stretch

The offense might have found a rhythm, but the Denver Broncos defense will need to put last week’s debacle behind them and show the NFL why they are a top rated defense.

As of now, we should all know the saying “Defense Wins Championships.”

That will have to be shown more than ever from a Super Bowl caliber defense.

For the last couple seasons, the Denver Broncos defense has helped the team win games. That was proven during the playoff run last year.

The defense kept high powered offenses like the Steelers, Patriots, and Panthers to less than 20 points.

But the defense, at some point in the season, will be the reason behind a team’s downfall.

Last year, the defense was the biggest reason why the Broncos suffered their first loss of the season against the Indianapolis Colts.

On the last Sunday in November, that exact same thing happened against the Kansas City Chiefs. The first three losses in 2016 was on the offense being inept.

The real teams for the playoffs flex their muscles in December and January. It is time for the Denver Broncos defense to put the loss to Kansas City behind them.

It will get a great chance to flex its muscles on Sunday when they go up against a banged up Jacksonville Jaguars offense that will be without Allen Hurns and Chris Ivory.

They could also be without former Bronco Julius Thomas, who is doubtful for the game.

With the offense clicking, but suffering an injury to their starting quarterback Trevor Siemian, Paxton Lynch is next man up to step into the fray.

And as a rookie quarterback, Paxton is going to need all of the help that he can get.

And I believe a healthy Denver Broncos defense can do that for him. Now the question is can they get the job done during the harsh months of December and January?
