Bengals' Hue Jackson sick of 'Bungles' jokes

Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has no sense of humor when it comes to perceptions about his team.

While Marvin Lewis has done much to shed the 'Bungles' label since his arrival in Cincinnati, the name creeps in every now and then, particularly with four straight one-and-dones in the postseason.

"We get to the door, but we don't kick it in," Jackson said Wednesday via ESPN.com. "I'm tired of getting to the door. Let's go blow that son of a gun open and see what happens. ... Make sure that when you go to the door, though, that you go to the door the right way. You've got to come with the hammer. If you go to the door with whipped cream, that's a whole different deal. If you ain't coming with the hammer, you shouldn't even come."

Jackson knows what it will take to bury the Bungles once and for all, and he hopes the passion and fire he is trying to instill on the players will send the moniker to its final resting place soon. "We are tired. I'm tired of being the brunt of jokes. I'm tired of our organization being the brunt of jokes," Jackson said Wednesday per the Cincinnati Enquirer. "At the end of the day, that's what we do this for. I don't want to be the laughingstock of anything and neither do those players in there on the offense. You have to take a stand."

The Bengals haven't brought the hammer since 1991, the last time they won a playoff game. If they don't end their postseason drought this year, it could be the end of road for both Lewis and Andy Dalton in Cincinnati.
