Ben Grubbs getting acclimated to his new Chiefs line

The odd man out on Kansas City's line? It's a two-time Pro Bowler.

Every other projected starter has two years of experience in Andy Reid's offense. Recently-acquired guard Ben Grubbs does not.

"It's been a learning process," Grubbs told reporters. "Of course it's different plays, different terminology, but this is what this phase is for."

Even top-shelf players like Grubbs need to shake the rust off. And while he does, Grubbs said he's leaning on two players his junior -- Eric Fisher and Eric Kush -- to learn the new blocking scheme.

Grubbs could end up blocking between Fisher and Kush when the season starts.

"I don't want to be a burden too much," Grubbs said. "But there are some things that I haven't quite gotten the grasp of, but they've been doing a really good job of bringing me along with them."

In the long haul, Grubbs will be no "burden" to young players like Fisher and Kush. They would do well to replicate the former Pro Bowler's work ethic; it's clear Grubbs wants to have the same impact in Kansas City that he did in New Orleans and Baltimore.
