CHICAGO (AP) The Chicago Bears held out star defensive end Jared Allen and suspended tight end Martellus Bennett of Friday's preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Allen, a five-time Pro Bowler, missed practices this week with his wife giving birth to a girl. Bennett was suspended indefinitely by the team following a practice altercation with cornerback Kyle Fuller on Monday.

Chicago also held out right guard Kyle Long after he missed practice Wednesday with an ankle injury, right tackle Jordan Mills (foot), cornerback Tim Jennings (quadriceps), cornerback Isaiah Frey (hamstring) and offensive lineman Eben Britton (hamstring). Safeties Chris Conte (shoulder) and Craig Steltz (groin) are on the physically unable to perform list.

Philadelphia was without receiver Riley Cooper (foot) and defensive tackle Bennie Logan (hamstring).
