Ravens guard Osemele worried Achilles injury will linger into regular season

Ravens guard Kelechi Osemele isn't sure he'd be able to play a full game the way his Achilles injury has lingered this training camp.

Osemele, who has been in and out of practice since getting stepped on Aug. 5, is worried that he may not be 100 percent when the regular season begins Sept. 13 against Denver.

"If I had to play a game, it’d be tough," Osemele said via The Baltimore Sun. "I don’t know. We’ll see. It’s definitely frustrating. I don’t like seeing my teammates working and getting better and just sitting on the side. But we still have two, three weeks left before we get going. So I have some time to heal up, hopefully."

Osemele started in last Thursday's preseason opener against New Orleans, playing the opening 16-play drive before sitting out the rest of the game. He missed the ensuing four practices, however, due to soreness.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh plans to err on the side of caution with Osemele with the hope that the injury doesn't linger into the season.

"It’s a tough balance because I think we’re going to err on the side of making sure he’s ready to go,” Harbaugh said. "We do that with everybody, really. K.O. can always use the reps. He and Eugene [Monroe] can definitely work together, but by the same token, you need him ready to go when you need him ready to go."
