The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to a contract extension with wide receiver Brian Finneran, who avoids free agency.

The 34-year-old Finneran caught 11 passes for 111 yards in 10 games in 2009, his second season since missing the 2006-07 seasons with knee injuries.

Finneran led the Falcons with 50 catches for 611 yards in 2005. He played three games with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1999 and has spent the rest of his career in Atlanta. He has 219 career catches for 2,927 yards and 16 touchdowns.
