Arizona Cardinals: Michael Floyd will come around
Arizona Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd had two receptions on Monday night vs New York Jets
He didn’t blow the world away statistically on Monday night but what Arizona Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd didn’t do spoke volumes. He didn’t drop a pass.
Floyd caught just two passes against the New York Jets but he caught both passes that came his way. The two targets were a sign that the Cardinals didn’t have a lot of plays called for him.
However coach Bruce Arians said they had a package for him set up in red zone opportunities. He found an opportunity. He caught a nice touchdown pass from quarterback Carson Palmer in the fourth quarter,
Many fans likely were holding their breath when it was thrown to Floyd. The Jets were still within possible reach halfway through the fourth quarter. Floyd’s catch put the game away. It may have also sent any boo birds away, at least for the time being.

It was a good plan to not overload Floyd and give him a chance to gain some confidence back. Catching a touchdown on the national stage could do just that.
It will be interesting to see how Floyd is used against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday night. Don’t be surprised if Floyd sees a similar type game, at least statistically.
The Cardinals don’t need him to be an all-star, although it helps. What they need is someone they can count on, especially down the field, when those opportunities arise.
Floyd needs to take this performance and run with it, even if just two receptions. It is a start that hopefully leads to a spectacular finish. First things first though. Gain the confidence, maintain the focus and the rest will fall into place. Floyd has the talent. That has never been in question.
