AP Source: Browns agree to deal with punter Britton Colquitt

CLEVELAND (AP) A person familiar with the negotiations says the Browns have reached a contract agreement with punter Britton Colquitt, recently released by Denver.

Colquitt will sign a one-year deal with Cleveland, said the person who spoke Saturday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the contract has not yet been signed.

The Browns have been looking for a punter since trading three-time Pro Bowler Andy Lee to Carolina earlier this week for a fourth-round pick. On Thursday, punters Kasey Redfern and Mike Palardy both shanked kicks badly in a loss to Chicago.

The 31-year-old Colquitt spent six seasons with the defending Super Bowl champion Broncos.

Before finalizing their 53-man roster, the Browns traded disappointing cornerback Justin Gilbert to Pittsburgh for a 2018 sixth-round draft pick. Gilbert was the No. 8 overall selection in 2014, when the Browns also selected quarterback Johnny Manziel in the first round.
