Andy Reid has to evolve to fit the Chiefs
On this episode of the Roughing the Kicker Chiefs podcast, Joshua Brisco breaks down the Chiefs’ sloppy loss to the Houston Texans, previews Sunday’s matchup against the New York Jets, and tries to help Andy Reid evolve to fit the offense he has built around himself.
The future of the Chiefs offense depends on Andy Reid’s willingness to change his philosophy. Forgive my crippling cynicism.
This is certainly Andy Reid’s offense. He has his quarterback, his (two) offensive coordinators, his philosophy, his offensive line, his skill position players, his laminated menu playcalling sheet, his everything. But the sum total of all of those pieces is not what Reid thought it would be.
Now it’s time for Andy Reid to evolve. His carefully-constructed gameplans in week one and two failed. It was only when Alex Smith and the Chiefs became desperate that they found signs of life. Only in the most dire moments did they elevate from lifeless to threatening.
But now the question stares the entire franchise in the face: Will Andy Reid adapt his philosophy of offense in order to let the Chiefs do what they have done best through two weeks?
We should have a pretty good idea of the answer to that question come Sunday.
