Hearing set for Thursday in Aaron Hernandez wrongful death suit

Published Dec. 19, 2013 12:00 a.m. ET

A hearing is scheduled on the assets of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez after the family of the man he's accused of killing filed a wrongful death lawsuit against him.

The hearing is set for New Bedford Superior Court in Massachusetts on Thursday. The family of Odin Lloyd is seeking restraining orders to preserve Hernandez's assets.

The suit filed this week alleges Hernandez ''maliciously, willfully, wantonly, recklessly or by gross negligence caused Odin Lloyd to suffer personal injuries that directly resulted in his death.'' It doesn't specify how much is being sought in damages.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the June shooting death of Lloyd, a semi-professional football player who was dating the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend.
