HOUSTON (AP)

Texans star receiver Andre Johnson is inactive for Sunday's game against Carolina with a strained left hamstring.

Johnson will be sidelined for the eighth time this season. He missed six straight games earlier with a more severe injury to his right hamstring.

Right guard Mike Brisiel (broken right leg), cornerback Sherrick McManis and defensive end Tim Bulman are also inactive for Houston.

Cornerback Darius Butler (concussion), receiver Seyi Ajirotutu and kicker Adi Kunalic are among the inactive players for Carolina. The Panthers signed Kunalic this week after Olindo Mare missed a 36-yard kick in the fourth quarter of last week's loss to Atlanta.
