Seattle receiver Golden Tate was fined by the NFL for the violent block he put on Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee, the Seahawks confirmed Wednesday.

In a radio interview with KJR-AM in Seattle on Wednesday, Coach Pete Carroll said Tate has been fined and intends to appeal. According to reports, the league fined him $21,000.

Tate was unavailable for comment as the Seahawks were off Wednesday while they prepared for a Monday night home game against Green Bay.

Lee said Wednesday that doesn't blame Tate for blocking him and that it was just part of football. The linebacker says the only issue he had ''a little bit'' was how Tate celebrated, but acknowledged that's part of football, too.

Lee still has a mark on his lower left chin from the play in Sunday's 27-7 loss at Seattle.
