McCoy must repay nearly $8,200
Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy has been ordered to repay nearly $8,200 for bailing on an autograph session at a sports-memorabilia shop after spotting federal officers raiding the store, the Philadelphia Daily News reported late Monday.
McCoy, who was paid in advance, reportedly arrived for the appearance but abruptly left after noticing federal law-enforcement agents inside the shop in Mountain Top, Pa., about 110 miles north of Philadelphia.
Store owner Salvatore Argo, who is currently behind bars after pleading guilty to federal charges of trafficking counterfeit jerseys, claimed McCoy should have refunded the money.
"I understand why Mr. McCoy did not show up, but I don't understand why he didn't refund the money," Argo's attorney Barry Dyller said, according to the Daily News.
The episode marks the second time McCoy has refunded money for a failed appearance in the last year.
According to the Daily News, McCoy repaid $2,500 after a flat tire forced him to miss an autograph session at a restaurant in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
The restaurant reportedly sent a car to pick up the stranded Eagles player, but it was not big enough to carry the 5-foot-11, 208-pound running back and his entourage of body guards.
