Report: Giants' Bradshaw has broken foot

The New York Giants will begin their grueling stretch of the season without leading rusher Ahmad Bradshaw, who suffered a fracture in his foot during last week's win over the Dolphins, a source told the New York Post on Thursday.

We've got all the images from the slate of Week 8 games.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday that Bradshaw's foot was "swollen and sore," but clearly it is worse than that.

Bradshaw has a history of foot problems and has screws in both his feet to stabilize bone breaks he has suffered with his violent running style. Bradshaw runs on the outside of his feet, increasing the stress on them.

It remains to be seen what the next course of action is for Bradshaw. He has played before with cracked bones in his feet, and at this point no decision has been made on surgery.

It is inconceivable he would play Sunday against the Patriots in Foxborough, but Bradshaw has a high tolerance for pain, and it must be determined if playing on the injury will make it worse.

Bradshaw left the field Sunday in the third quarter to have X-rays taken of his foot but returned to play in the fourth quarter. He gained 11 yards on a draw play that helped set up Eli Manning for the game-winning touchdown pass to Victor Cruz. It now appears Bradshaw made that run with a damaged bone in his foot.

This puts the Giants in a problematic spot heading into Sunday's game. They must now rely on Brandon Jacobs, who has seen his body and mind take a beating this season.

Jacobs missed two games with a swollen knee, and his return last week was not impressive. He had to recover his own fumble on his first rushing attempt and later dropped a swing pass that fell off his hands.
