NEW HIRES

TEAM COACH RESUME

RAIDERS

Hue Jackson
• 2010 Raiders offensive coordinator
• 2008-09 Ravens quarterbacks coach
• 2007 Falcons offensive coordinator
• 2004-06 Bengals wide receivers coach
• 2003 Redskins offensive coordinator
ANALYSIS: Jackson was widely considered the leading contender to get the job as soon as the Raiders announced they would not be extending Tom Cable's contract earlier this month. Jackson was hired a year ago to take over the play-calling duties from Cable and Oakland scored more than twice as many points in 2010 as it did in '09 — and the Raiders won eight games to avoid an eighth straight losing season. Jackson is the team's sixth coach since 2003.
TEAM COACH RESUME

BRONCOS

John Fox
• 2002-2010 Carolina Panthers head coach
• 1997-2001 New York Giants defensive coordinator
• 1996 St. Louis Rams personal consultant
• 1994-1995 Los Angeles Raiders defensive coordinator
• Won 2003 NFC Championship
ANALYSIS: The Broncos have announced that John Fox will be their next head coach. Fox did not have his contract renewed in Carolina last season after only winning two games. In the past nine seasons, Fox led the Panthers to three postseason berths. The Broncos hold the No. 2 overall draft pick, and it will be interesting to see if Fox is a believer in University of Florida product Tim Tebow at quarterback.

BROWNS

Pat Shurmur
• 2009-2010 Rams offensive coordinator
• 2002-2008 Eagles QB coach
• 1999-2001 Eagles TE/OL coach
• 1998 Stanford OL coach
ANALYSIS: The Cleveland Browns have found their new head coach in Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Shurmur played a significant role in rookie Sam Bradford's development and will have a chance to advance another young quarterback's game in Colt McCoy, who started eight games this past season. This hiring fills a vacancy that was left after Eric Mangini was fired on Jan. 3, following a 5-11 season.

PANTHERS

Ron Rivera
• Linebacker on Bears' '85 Super Bowl-winning team
• Bears defensive coordinator (2004-06)
• Chargers defensive coordinator (2008-2010)
ANALYSIS: Rivera is well regarded for his defensive prowess. When the Bears reached Super Bowl XLI, it was largely on the back of their defense. When he took over the Chargers defense in the middle of the 2008 season, he helped fuel a strong turnaround that led to San Diego knocking off the Colts in the wild-card round. This is his first head-coaching job, so it will be interesting to see how he'll try to rebuild the Panthers and who he'll bring in to rescue the horrid offense.
TEAM COACH RESUME

49ERS

Jim Harbaugh
• 15-year NFL quarterback
• Stanford coach (29-21), won Orange Bowl in 2011
• University of San Diego coach (29-6)
ANALYSIS: Harbaugh replaces Mike Singletary, who was fired in Week 16. Taking over a Stanford team that went 1-11 in 2006, Harbaugh went 12-1 this season. With a five-year, $25 million contract it's logical to believe Harbaugh will have major input on personnel decisions, despite the promotion of Trent Baalke to general manager.

FROM INTERIM TO FULL-TIME COACH

TEAM COACH NFL RESUME

VIKINGS

Leslie Frazier
• 3-3 as Vikings interim coach
• Vikings defensive coordinator (2007-10)
• Colts defensive backs coach (2005-06)
• Bengals defensive coordinator (2003-04)
• Eagles defensive backs coach (1999-2002)
ANALYSIS: The Vikings announced Monday that Frazier, 51, will remain head coach after guiding the team to a 3-3 record since taking over for Brad Childress. In that span, Frazier — a former Bears defensive back who has been an assistant coach for four NFL teams since 1999 — showed great leadership handling quarterback Brett Favre’s myriad injuries and messy personal affairs, ultimately turning the offense over to young QB Joe Webb.

COWBOYS

Jason Garrett
• 5-3 as Cowboys interim coach
• Cowboys offensive coordinator (2007-10)
• Dolphins quarterbacks coach (2005-06)
• 8 seasons as NFL QB (1993-2000)
ANALYSIS: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones removed the interim tag from Garrett, who lifted Dallas from 1-7 to a 5-3 finish under his watch. Garrett becomes the Cowboys eighth head coach in franchise history and has a plate full of offseason moves to make. Although Garrett's offense was able to move the ball during the final stretch of the season, the defense has some big personnel problems.
